Dedication IPA
Inspiration for this name comes from here: On The Loose Blog.In addition to rededicating myself to getting out into the mountains more, this is also the year I'm dedicating to becoming a better brewer!

Brew Date: 2/14/2010
OG:
1) Water left out overnight to de-gas
2) MLT: Heat 10 Gallons H2O to 160 F.
2a) Preheat Mash tun with 1-2 gallons boiling H2O, dump water
3) Add Grain to Mash Tun
4) Single-Infusion Mash. Target:149 F, 7 gallons mash water (just below 2qts/lb of grain)
5) Add 160F water to Mash 1 gallon at a time, stir between additions
6) Stabilize Mash Temp at 149F
7) 12:35 Mash on! Mash for 90 mins. Stirring every 15 mins (12:45. 1:00, 1:15,1:30.1:45)
Temp @1:35 =137F =( (really cold today 40F outside)
Mash tun on burner for heat
2:00 Temp 156F
Will mash 45 mins more
Mash stayed above 160 for rest of mash
8) Heat Sparge water (3.5 gallons) to 170F
9) Recirculate First Runnings until clear
Next time..collect all 1st runnings THEN sparge
10) Lauter and Sparge. Boil kettle on floor, gravity drain. Pump sparge water on top of grain bed.
11) Sparge until volume in kettle is 7 gallons.
Kettle Gravity: 15.2 Brix @ 1062
12) Calculate efficiency: (gallons collected) x (kettle gravity)/ (lbs of malt)
13) Run Boil
1 oz Citra (13.4%AA)(instead of horizon) (90mins)
1 oz Centennial (9.7%AA)(10 mins)
1 oz Simcoe (12.4%AA) (5 mins)
1 oz Amarillo (8.6%AA) (0 mins)
Added 1 gal tap H2O at 30 mins left to bring volume back to 6 gal.
14) Chiller set-up, run into carboy
15) Repitch
16) Dry-hop: 1 oz Simcoe, 1oz cascade
